MRS. GRANT'S BIO / MRS. GRANT'S BLOG
Mrs. Grant is a Tucson native, born and raised right here in the beautiful Old Pueblo. She and her husband Don are parents to 2 wonderful, very active kids; daughter Mackenzie, and son Jeremy.
Mrs. Grant came to work at MIXfm in March of 2003 after applying for the job as morning show administrative assistant 3 times. The first time was in 1998, again in 2000 but the 3rd time was a charm in 2003. Now 7 years later, Mrs. Grant is the "soccer playing, zumba dancing mom" on the Bobby Rich Morning MIX.
Okay, time for the answer to the big question “Why Mrs. Grant?” The simple answer is she had the same first name as someone else on the show so, to limit confusion we needed her to use another name on-air. One day after the show, while returning a phone call to the nurse at her daughter’s school, it happened... As soon as the words, “Hello Mrs. Anderson, I am Mrs. Grant, Mackenzie’s mom,” left her mouth we knew it was the perfect choice. She IS Mrs. Grant.
Mrs. Grant's favorite way to pass time is hanging out with her friends and family. She likes to barbeque and invite friends, family and/or neighbors to her house to eat, swim and just kick back and catch up for hours. She loves to be outdoors, and her idea of a great vacation is camping for a couple days somewhere in Arizona or on the beach in California.

The other night, I posted a note on Facebook about doing yard work that day, while it was overcast. My husband’s 16 year old nephew, who lives in Spokane, WA and has never been anywhere near Arizona posted a comment that really "burned me." Here is the comment he postedhe following comment: "you can actually go outside and not burst into flames in Arizona????? LOL just kidding lol” My response was, “You actually can, it's amazing! AND we actually have trees, and paved roads and we don't ride camels to work.”
It’s funny to me (well no, it's really not funny to me, which is why I am writing about it) how people hear desert and 105 degrees for a high temperature and they immediately think of the Sahara Desert, with the sand dunes and camels or the old west with tumble weeds blowing down a dirt road in the blazing sun.
One of the comments I hear often from people that have never even visited Arizona, "how do you guys handle that heat all day?” I find myself defending my birthplace and trying to explain by saying, things like: "It’s not that bad" or "most of us do our outdoor stuff early in the morning and after sunset." I mean really, we work and live in buildings that are equipped with air conditioning or swamp cooling, our cars have air conditioning. Leaving the house or office during the hottest part of the day and getting into the car, is no more extreme than going outside in the dead of winter, heating up the car and then driving thru a snowstorm. So, comments like that just makes me crazy.
There are so many areas of the country, let alone the world, I have yet to visit and I try not to make assumptions about a place I have never visited. I wish everyone would subscribe to this way of thinking when it comes to our beautiful little piece of the world.

I notice this most every year around this time. Then I hear people from all over the country complaining about their town being over 100 degrees... WITH A MILLION PER CENT HUMIDITY!
Of course, I like to remind them of this in January/February when they are freezing and can't drive on the snow, ice & slush. ;-)

Hey, Mrs. Grant...I so agree with you! I have lived in the Midwest and I would much rather deal with the heat of our summer (as long as my A/C is working of course!) than all the hassle of the snow and ice and cold!! And it still amazes me that people who have never been to AZ still think that it looks like the Saharan Desert...kinda like the dunes on the way to San Diego...but a whole state of that! Amazing! So I share your being burned up!! And on another subject...love hearing about your kids and support your way of raising them. Wish more parents would be responsible for raising their kids!! Thanks for sharing on the radio...think it makes a difference. Blessings!! Love your show!!

The comment we hear often is, "You have mountains in Tucson?" I have to admit as a relatively new resident (7 years) I thought the same thing before we moved out west. I thought all desert was like the Sarah, but you do adapt and after living my entire life in the hot humid south...this heat ain't that bad.
Also enjoyed see you at the Baby Fair. It was a very fun time, thank you for putting that on. I even won a Michael Buble CD for reading my email :)
