This is Greg's 2nd “tour of duty” at 94.9MIXfm. The first time “I was sandwiched between Adrienne Walker and Delilah” as the host of the early evening show from 6-9pm. Now, he's a part of the Bobby Rich Morning-MIX (with Mrs. G, Big Al and Erin)!
Speaking of family, Greg and his wife Kim returned to the Old Pueblo after living in Boston for a few years. “We both have family and a lot of old friends who live in Tucson, and with the birth of our first child (09/07), we knew it was time to come home.”
Greg is a hometown kid. A graduate of both Sabino H.S., and the University of Arizona, “No matter where we go, it seems like I run into somebody I grew up with or worked for. It still feels like a small town.”
Greg likes:
Red Sox baseball, Wildcat basketball, Coffee, golf with Dad, backyard BBQ’s, draft beer, and mobster movies.
Greg dislikes:
Rudeness, people who lack compassion for others, the New York Yankees, and drivers that wait for an “invitation” before proceeding left on a green arrow!
EXTRA CREDIT: Greg has a musical background (drums & percussion), and has written and performed many of the parody songs and special feature program segments heard during the Bobby Rich Morning-MIX.

The WAY We're Working ISN'T Working.

Haven't had much time to blog lately--I've been too busy to see straight. Relate?
I just read an online review of a book I think might help, and I'm kind of excited. If you're also goin' crazy in this 24/7 constantly plugged-in world we live in, you might find it helpful too.
The book is called "The Way We're Working Isn't Working" by Tony Schwartz.

I think it's in stores May 18th(?) But what caught my eye was this excerpt:
(A myth has taken hold that) "human beings operate most productively in the same one-dimensional way computers do: continuously, at high speeds, for long periods of time, running multiple programs at the same time." But "when we fuel ourselves on a diet that lacks essential nutrients, it shouldn't be a surprise that we end up undernourished and unable to operate consistently at our best." He's talking about working hard, but figuring out a way to work in consistent moments to replenish. Sleep, sleep, and sleep. Is a biggie. Then there's free time with friedns and family, time to read a book, time to watch movie or listen to music.
I don't know if the book has suggestions for ways to make it happen, but Schwartz writes, "Asking ourselves who we want to be and how we want to behave -- resisting the default into denial and self-deception -- is the key to growing, learning and evolving...It means recognizing that as addicted as we can become to the speed and intensity of our lives, we're more creative and productive when we move intentionally between effort and renewal, action and reflection."
I think I'm gonna have to check it out. Your thoughts?
BTW--You can find a more detailed write up and link to buy the book from Amazon, HERE.
